From Strategy to Action: Circularity as a Competitive Lever

The 5th edition of the Monitor for Circular Fashion SDA Bocconi

The 5th edition of the Monitor for Circular Fashion SDA Bocconi, presented during the multistakeholder event Transform to Perform, confirms a structural shift in the fashion industry: sustainability and circularity are no longer parallel initiatives, they are strategic levers for competitiveness. As highlighted in the recent coverage by Il Sole 24 Ore, companies are embedding circular principles into their operations, transforming regulatory and environmental challenges into business opportunities. As Francesca Romana Rinaldi, Director of the Monitor for Circular Fashion, explains: "Sustainability and circularity have become an integral part of companies, and are no longer part of a narrative or a legal obligation, but fuel a real competitive advantage." Among the key themes emerging from the report: AI and digitalization as enablers of traceability and operational efficiency. Support for SMEs to accelerate the adoption of circular models. Advanced materials research to design products aligned with circular principles. Resale and second-life models gaining momentum as new growth areas.

SecondFlow: Circularity in Practice

Within this evolving landscape, we are proud to support SecondFlow, an innovative pilot project launched by YKK and Deda Stealth, partners of the Monitor for Circular Fashion promoted by SDA Bocconi School of Management. The initiative combines technology and sustainability, leveraging the B/Samply platform to enable a more transparent and circular fashion supply chain. Through its digital showroom, YKK has made unused stock of zippers and buttons available free of charge to educational institutions and non-profit organizations working in sustainable fashion. By redistributing existing materials instead of producing new ones, SecondFlow represents a concrete application of circular economy principles. It demonstrates how digital innovation can reduce waste, extend product lifecycles, and create new value streams, while fostering collaboration across the ecosystem. At Deda Stealth, we believe that real transformation happens when strategy meets execution. Projects like SecondFlow show that circularity is not just a framework for discussion, but a scalable, technology-enabled model capable of driving measurable impact across the fashion value chain.
